A new documentary series will take a look at six influential artists. Each installment of Innovators in Music will present interviews as well as performances, with the program set to air on Bravo Canada Thursdays at 8PM (with U.S. broadcasts likely in the offing as well). First up is Steve Earle, this coming Thursday the 7th, in a episode in which Earle “passionately addresses the importance of art in society, Townes Van Zandt, the elusive nature of fear, drug addiction and the death penalty, among other topics. His solo performance at the Bijoux Theatre is featured throughout.” Levon Helm is profiled on January 14 with footage of the “Midnight Ramble Sessions: 69th Birthday Edition” featuring special guest Donald Fagen. The life and music of Mickey Hart comes next (January 21), followed by Dave Stewart (January 28), Billy Bragg (February 4) and Sonic Youth (February 11).
