Galactic will release a new album on February 9, 2010 via Anti- records. As previously reported, Ya-Ka-May will incorporate a number of New Orleans sounds, including jazz, brass band music, funk and “bounce” influenced hip hop. The album will also feature appearances by the Rebirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, Big Chief Bo Dollis, Allen Toussaint, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Trombone Shorty, Corey Henry, John Boutté, Josh Cohen, Scully and Glen David Andrews. In addition, the album will showcase new “Bounce” artists like Cheeky Blakk, Big Freedia, Katey Red and Sissy Nobby. Galactic saxophonist Ben Ellman is said to have spearheaded the album.
