Last night the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum celebrated its 25th year with the first of two nights at Madison Square Garden. We expect a more extensive account later in the day from our reporter but we wanted to jump in with a overview. As previously announced, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne all sat in with Crosby, Stills and Nash. In addition, Simon and Garfunkel reunited for a performance that included their originals “The Sounds of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Boxer,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Cecilia.” Stevie Wonder’s guests included Smokey Robinson, John Legend, B.B. King, Sting and Jeff Beck. What’s more Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band drew out Tom Morello (who joined in for a cover of the Clash’s “London Calling” and as well as Springsteen’s “Badlands”), Sam Moore, John Fogerty, Darlene Love and Billy Joel (who appeared on three of his own songs and one of Springsteen’s). The full setlist appears below. Tonight’s show will feature U2, Aretha Franklin, Metallica and many additional guests (with Eric Clapton bowing out last week due to gallstones).
