The next studio release from Charlie Hunter will feature him in a quintet. Gentlemen, I Neglected To Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid, the second disc on his Spire Artist Media label is set to be released on January 12, 2010. Here he is joined by recent collaborator Eric Kalb behind the kit as well as a horn section that features two trombone players, Curtis Fowlkes (Jazz Passengers, Lounge Lizards), and Alan Ferber (Don Byron, Kenny Wheeler) along with trumpeter Eric Biondo (Antibalas, TV On The Radio). Hunter and the band recorded live to tape with no overdubs as he explains, “We wanted to do an old sounding record, it’s fun to do it all analog. Artists are into mixing, and that’s fine, but I’m so on the raw side of things, I get the sounds I like and go. You need to know how to play if you do it this way. I could never do it digitally, I play live with a lot of improv, so I go with my strengths. Why not go all in!” Hunter will support this disc with a four week Tuesday night residency at Brooklyn’s Rose Live Music in Brooklyn, NY starting on January 5. Hunter is currently touring in Ben Goldberg’s GO HOME a group that also features Fowlkes and former Hunter band member Scott Amendola.
