Derek Trucks is currently two shows into his fall tour
with the Allman Brothers Band. Shortly before hitting the road with the Allmans, the guitarist toured Japan with his own Derek Trucks Band. The tour came to a close at Tokyo’s NHK Hall on September 30. Like several of Trucks’ recent Japanese performances and many of the Allman Brothers Band’s summer shows, the Doobie Brothers Band was also on the bill and—at several points throughout the night—took the stage with the jam-titans.

Doobie Brothers saxophonist Marc Russo emerged first for a version of “Anyday” and was quickly followed by Doobie Brothers drummer Ed Toth on “Leavin’ Trunk.” Finally, Doobie Brothers guitarists Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons appeared on “Key to the Highway.” The Doobie Brothers will perform at Madisonville, KY Glema Mahr Ctr. For The Arts on October 22, while the Derek Trucks Band will resume touring on October 30 at Durham, NC’s Carolina Theatre.
