The influential indie rock band Pavement will reunite in 2010, according to a series of posts on respected music websites like BrooklynVegan and Pitchfork. The band—Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, Scott Kannberg, Steve West and Mark Ibold—has not performed together since 1999. A number of unfounded reunion rumors have spread in that time. If the band does reunite, it will be one of the biggest reunions of the past decade.

According to this week’s reports, the band will reunite for a series of shows in 2010, including a September stop at Central Park SummerStage. The post also mentions the possibility of a reunion performance at Coachella in April. The festival helped spur reunions by a number of bands, including Rage Against the Machine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Gang of Four and the Pixies. Malkmus has a successful solo career, while Ibold is a member of Sonic Youth.
