Wavy Gravy has enjoyed some big birthday parties over the past few years. Last year SEVA hosted a benefit in his honor with appearances by RatDog, Mickey Hart and Friends, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch and many others. In 2005, Phil Lesh & Friends performed a birthday gig. This year Mickey and Co. will be back for a show that will return to the Berkeley Community Theater. Also on hand will be Zero, Chris Robinson’s Wooden Family, Sikiru Adepoju and of course, the birthday boy, with additional artists to be named soon. SEVAs mission is to alleviate suffering caused by disease and poverty and the organization has gone a long way towards restoring sight for impoverished citizens of India, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Tanzania and Guatemala.
