What artist or artists will be most synonymous with the past decade?

I think this has been the decade of the female artist. Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Paramore, even Katy Perry. They are the only artists who truly interest me these days. These girls have something to say and are not afraid to step outside to get their point across. Go women!

What will you remember most about 2009?

Standing next to the rail, between Page McConnell and Trey Anastasio, on March 6, 2009, when Phish walked out on stage for the first time in nearly five years. Page got emotional, and this time, it was for all the right reasons. The opening notes of “Fluffhead” will stand out as one of my all-time favorite concert moments far beyond 2009. And when Phish went into “The Divided Sky,” right after that, the world seemed like a much better place again. Beautiful. CLASSIC night.

Everything else in the world? It was nice to have a return to sanity at the White House. 2009 was a transitional year after many troubled ones. Bring on the 10s!

What album or albums appeared most often in your iTunes?

Porcupine Tree The Incident
Dirty Projectors Bitte Orca
Michael Hurley Ida Con Snock

Phish—Hartford – 8/14/09

What was your favorite show or tour in 2009?

Phish, again, of course. 10/31/09 – Sets II & III were what I always loved about Phish—great, well-selected music costume, and an exploratory, high energy third set that rocked, and went out into space. Honorable mention: 11/1/09 – seeing a wonderfully warm and memorable afternoon acoustic Phish set. Trey gets everyone to sit down, and Mike gets everyone to stand up.
