Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have announced a pair of special holiday shows. Set to stage at Denver’s Mission Ballroom on December 10 and 11, the powerhouse rock-and-soul ensemble’s new year-end dates will celebrate another thrilling year of recordings and touring, as well as the 10th anniversary of their self-titled debut studio album. To properly honor the occasion, they’ll call on the great Mavis Staples to join as a special guest, alongside a surprise lineup of other friends.
Before capping off the year in the frontman’s home city, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats will support the return of Orville Peck’s Rodeo at Pioneertown, Calif.’s historic Pappy + Harriet’s on Nov. 16. Rateliff was also just announced as a new addition to the lineup of performers and presenters for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, joining previously announced guests like Elton John, Questlove, Iggy Pop, Brandi Carlile and Flea at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on Nov. 8. The band recently accepted an award of their own at the Americana Music Association’s 24th annual Americana Honors & Awards, where the frontman noted that their Album of the Year win for South of Here marked the group’s first recognition at any awards ceremony.
Earlier in October, Rateliff and his band marked a decade since their triumphant debut with a deluxe reissue, adding demo versions of the full original tracklist. With the release, the frontman reflected on the songs’ significance to a pivotal moment in his career:
“The journey of a song has to start somewhere. Songs can be ideas that sit for years. Sometimes they are hiding from within, and it is up to us to become available, to welcome their melodic birth. Here are eleven unheard ideas that started in my attic a little over ten years ago. I had one mic, a two-channel interface, a two-channel preamp, and my laptop. I used those tools just well enough at the time to capture ideas in the moment they arrived. The process of recording these demos came as such a surprise and led to making one of my most treasured friendships. I thought I was going to make the last record of my career. Instead, it was the start of a new life.”
Tickets for Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ holiday shows are available through an artist pre-sale now, with additional presales running until the general onsale this Friday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. local. Learn more at nathanielrateliff.com.
