Live Albums From Blueground Undergrass, Jiggle The Handle
The inaugural releases from the upcoming Phoenix Rising live
series will be available in early January. Live performances from
Blueground Undergrass and Jiggle The Handle will lead the pack,
followed by music from Ulu, Blind Man's Sun, Lake Trout, All Mighty
Senators and Foxtrot Zulu. Blueground Undergrass, Live At The Variety
Playhouse presents some traditional songs ("Take This Hammer," "Blue and
Lonesome") as well as some originals ("Zambilly," "Farewell To Lemmings"
and more). Jiggle The Handle, Live at The Stone Coast Brewing Company,
predominantly focuses on the group's newer material (the band stretches
out a few songs that appear on its recent In It Again release). All single
discs in the Phoenix Presents series will retail for $10. For more

Vassar Clements Records, Performs With The Lowcountry Boil Bluegrass Band
Reknowned fiddle player Vassar Clements recently entered the
studio to record a number of tracks with the
South-Carolina based Low Country Boil Bluegrass Band. The results will
appear on the group's debut CD, Break Me Off Some
Bluegrass. The release also features the work of nine year old Kieran Daly
on mandolin. The group which played 275 shows in 1999, will celebrate the
disc's release by performing three shows with Clements, January 25th
in Charleston, the 26th on Hilton Head Island, SC & the 27th in Savannah, GA.

Phish NYE Sells Out
Great Northeast Productions has announced that the Phish New
Year's Eve performance at Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation is sold
out. Seventy-five thousand tickets have been issued for the event which
will be the largest single-band concert to take place on the 31st. Those
individuals who arrive at the concert site without tickets will be turned
away (and checkpoints will be set up a few miles away from the site
itself). Additionally, Great Northeast is reporting that no cars with
ticketless passengers will be allowed near the concert site. Portions of
the show will be broadcast via MP3 at phish.com,
and will appear on ABC television.
Blue Floyd Adds Tour Dates
Blue Floyd, the project which will bring together a
number of players to interpret the music of Pink Floyd, has added
additional dates to its tour itinerary. The line-up, which features Allen
Woody, Matt Abts, Marc Ford, Eddie Harsch and Berry Oakley Jr., is
slated to perform its initial show in
Anaheim on January 14. A Chicago House of Blues date on February 21, is
among the most recent additions to the tour schedule. For more

Interview, Music From Newest Jambands.com columnist, David Gans
An interview with writer, performer, and syndicated radio host
David Gans has just been added to the Phil Zone, www/philzone.com. In
addition to the text, the site offers Real Audio from the 1997
David Gans and Broken Angels shows with Phil Lesh. These
performances helped to inspire Lesh's recent return to touring duty with
Phil and Friends. The Phil Zone piece

Galactic To Play Through Dawn
Superfly Presents, the promoter for Galactic's New Year's Eve
show in New Orleans has confirmed that the band will play past sunrise.
The event will take place at the Thirteenth Floor Theater at the Masonic
Temple, a lavish site which has also hosted Anne Rice's fabled Halloween
Ball. Opening for the group will be the North Mississippi All-Stars, a band
which is rapidly gaining fans and momentum, and recently appeared as
the subject of a feature story in the New York Times. The Lil' Rascals Brass Band will

Curtis Mayfield Dies at 57
Curtis Mayfield, legendary soul singer, funk artist and activist passed
away on Sunday. Mayfield, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame earlier this year, first came to national prominence through his role in
the Impressions. With that group he helped craft a number of notable singles
during the 1960's including "I'm So Proud" and "People Get Ready." His career
took a turn during the early 1970's as his sound moved into the funk realms.
In this context, his work on the soundtrack to the 1972 film Superfly,
included the much-covered and sampled title track and "Freddie's Dead."
Musicians who have performed Mayfield's music over the years include Phish,
Eric Clapton, and the Beastie Boys.
Sammy Hagar/Mickey Hart Collaboration On Line
A new music project crafted by Sammy Hagar and Mickey Hart is now
available for download. "Code War" is the product of the Hagar/Hart
Project, fusing the two musicians' distinctive musical predilections and
passions. The result offers a techno-trance sonic environment juxtaposed
by wailing guitar and Hagar's distinctive vocals. To hear the results

Phish has announced that it will make some of its New Year's Eve
performance from Big Cypress available to listeners via MP3 at the
conclusion of each set. Some limitations exist regarding operating
systems and players- for more information visit
www.phish.com. Those
individuals who are unable to tune in through this manner will have a
chance to take in a few minutes of the festivities through a brief live
remote
broadcast of the show on "ABC 2000," currently scheduled to air for five
minutes at 12:50 EST.
