Alt-J have announced they’ll be releasing a new album titled The Dream on Feb. 11, 2022. The release will mark the first new music from the English outfit since their acclaimed third album RELAXER, released in 2017.

Along with the announcement of the album, Alt-j released a surreal music video for their latest single “U&ME.” The video was directed by band member Gus Unger-Hamilton’s brother Prosper Unger-Hamilton and produced by Mr. Mr. Films.

The video follows the band enjoying a hazy day in a skate park but quickly evolves as CGI effects complement the nostalgic feel from camcorder footage, creating a unique and memorable accompaniment to the track. Surprisingly the video also marks the first time all members of Alt-J have appeared in a music video.

Sonically the track evokes a summery euphoria through artful restraint, rolls out a narrative through snapshot memories, and puts the band’s growth through experimentation in full display.

“It’s about being at a festival with your best friends, having a good time, togetherness, and the feeling in life that nothing could be any better than it is right now,” said Alt-J keyboardist/vocalist Gus Unger-Hamilton said of the song, in a press release.

The band will also be going on tour to celebrate the release in the winter of 2022, they’ll be joined by Portugal. The Man along with special guests Sir Chloe, and Cherry Glazerr on select dates.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. EST. Find tickets here.
