Greensky Bluegrass took advantage of Ghost Light’s talent pool this weekend during their two-night support slot at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, welcoming Tom Hamilton and Holly Bowling for sit-ins on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

After Greensky bookended their first set of the weekend with “The Four” and “Stop That Train,” the band sank into their second half with throwback track “The Reverend” (off 2008’s Five Interstates).

Later, Tom Hamilton dipped his toes into the Allman Brothers Band songbook to jam with GSBG on a rockin’, twanged-out “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” before sticking around to close set two with If Sorrows Swim standout “Kerosene.”

The next evening, after Ghost Light offered cuts off their 2019 debut Best Kept Secrets, keyboardist Holly Bowling got in on the fun for a significant portion of their second set.

After sharing a fist-bump with GSBG dobroist Anders Beck, Bowling jammed on “Fixin’ to Ruin,” “Windsheild” and a “What You Need” (complete with vibraslap from tour manager Guido Batista) that bled into the Grateful Dead’s “Cassidy.”

Bowling drew her sit-in to an end with a set-closing “Leap Year,” and GSBG encored their final evening in Denver solo with their own “Wings For Wheels.”

Nodding to the name of the venue, the band wrote afterwards, “Mission accomplished!”
